Benedict Cumberbatch, known for his role in Dr. Strange, and his family had a terrifying experience when they were threatened by a chef with a knife.
The British actor was at his north London home with his wife and three children when Jack Bissell, 35, broke into the property with the intent to cause harm.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, Bissell managed to get into the house after kicking in the front door and destroying some plants in the garden. Once inside, he went up to Cumberbatch and yelled threats at him, saying, “I know you moved here, I hope it burns down.”
After his violent attack, Bissell fled the scene, but was later arrested after traces of his DNA were found on the residence’s video intercom.
The incident occurred almost a month ago, according to local press reports, and the reasons that led the chef to act so violently against the actor are still unknown.
As for Bissell’s identity, it is known that he worked as a chef de partie at a five-star hotel in west London for two spells, between 2017 and 2020.
The British media also highlighted that Cumberbatch’s house has a value of 4 million euros, but the security of the residence was not enough, since Bissell managed to enter easily and carrying a sharp weapon with the clear intention of attacking.
The prosecution testified in court that, prior to the attack, Bissell bought pita bread at a nearby store and told the clerk that he planned to break into and burn down Benedict Cumberbatch’s home.
