This is also not an everyday occurrence at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna: two sisters, one seven and one nine, were accepted to support the highly gifted. Nine-year-old Leonie Lugbauer on the saxophone and seven-year-old Sophia on the violin. Both performed in front of a jury, although Sophia had not known her répétiteur before. Leonie was accompanied on the piano by her mother Liudmila. Videos had previously been requested because it was not certain that the lecture could be presented in person. The two girls from Oberndorf, who were previously taught at the Alpenvorland music school, were accepted into the university’s gifted program, where they will be taught weekly from the summer semester.

Their previous teachers, violin teacher Sabine Werner and saxophone teacher Roman Punz, as well as the director of the Alpenvorland music school, Leopoldine Salzer, are proud of the sisters. The director is happy about the two talents that have developed at her music school: “Recognizing talent and then promoting it accordingly is the most important task of a teacher. I wish them both much success!”
