Reinis Straume makes his debut as “Raisbenda” as Raum – Music

Latvian musician Raum, also known as “Double Faced Eels” vocalist Reinis Straume, applied for a solo career with the song “Happy” and its video on Friday, March 26.

Earlier this year, the mighty concern Warner Music announced its intention to expand its operations in the Baltics, including collaboration with local musicians. Reinis Straume was mentioned as the first name, which will be known by the stage name Raum. The musician’s first song “Happy” has just been released, and with the song, a video has been released, in which the main role is played by Raum himself and the actress Lelde Dreimane participates. The video of the song was created by the domestic company “371 Production”, whose team includes the director of the video Mark Landmanis, producer and screenwriter Bruno Rejs Corns, as well as the cameraman Rihards Dīcis. Reinis also revealed that he also shows several of his friends and episodically even his father. “Together with Mark and Bruno, we decided that we needed to show something atypical of what could be expected of me,” says Raum. “That’s how the idea for the musical elements in the clip and the dancing scenes came about! As a capitalist, it was a challenge for me: to sing and dance for the first time in my life. ”

The song “Happier” is the first harbinger of Raum’s sound and the musician’s application for musical performance as a solo performer: “The first song is my business card as Raum. Although I have done this in the music field before, I am positively worried, because with Raum’s songs I take full responsibility for what I have said, I show myself as a solo performer and singer in such a direct way as never before. “The song is about toxic relationships and the moment when you are finally ready to break out of them. On the one hand, thank you for the same and (un) sight, but on the other hand, if karma bites the other for wrongdoing, well. Clean for prevention, ”Raum thinks. According to the viewer, stylistically it is a typical “boisbend” song, only – Reinis sings it alone.

“Happier” has become truly international. At the end of last year, a songwriting camp organized by the record company took place in Tallinn’s Downtown Studios, to which an international team was invited to work with Rein on both the completion of the already written Raum songs and new songs. Reinis himself is the author of the “Happier” text and music, but Estonian authors Karl Killing and Daniel Levijs have also worked on it as co-authors. The producers of the song are the Finnish band “Los Rollos”. It should be noted that Raum’s solo performance does not mean the end of “Double Faced Eels” – new songs are also being worked on with the band, but as a musician Raum can realize what would not really fit in the band’s repertoire.
