Over a day, more than 189 thousand people became infected with a new coronavirus in the world, which is a new record. This was reported by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The record was set last Sunday, June 28, writes TASS with reference to the organization. The previous one was recorded a week ago, on June 21. Then COVID-19 was detected in about 183 thousand people.
The total number of infected COVID-19 in the world, according to WHO, approached the mark of 10 million people. As of June 28, there were 9.84 million patients. However, according to Johns Hopkins University, the overall rate since the start of the pandemic has already exceeded 10 million people, over 500 thousand people have become victims of the infection.
In Russia, as of today, COVID-19 has been detected in a little over 641 thousand people. According to official figures, 9,166 people died from the disease.
