Ralph Lauren Presents Fall/Holiday 2024 Collection: A Minimal Approach with Timeless Elegance

Ralph Lauren Presents Fall/Holiday 2024 Collection: A Return to Timeless Elegance

New York (AP) – Ralph Lauren, renowned fashion designer, showcased his highly anticipated Fall/Holiday 2024 collection in a magnificent fashion show. Unlike his previous grand events, this time he chose to embrace minimalism in the stunning setting of his small design studio at the heart of his New York City offices. The intimate show took inspiration from Lauren’s groundbreaking women’s fashion show in 1972, where he introduced his creations to editors and friends from the comfort of his own office.

The show, attended by a star-studded front row including Glenn Close, Jessica Chastain, Kerry Washington, Rebecca Hall, and Jodie Turner-Smith, commenced with a timelessly elegant touch. Model and muse Christy Turlington, now 55, made a captivating entrance in a sleek beige wool coat, symbolizing Lauren’s eternal ethos.

A Palette of Soothing Neutrals and Effortless Sophistication

The Fall/Holiday 2024 collection featured a captivating series of designs characterized by soothing neutral tones such as tans, browns, grays, black, and metallics. The soft palette dominated throughout both daytime and evening garments, including tailored jackets, sweaters with trousers, and slinky, sequined gowns. The collection also showcased roomy sweaters, an array of boots, and wide leather belts adorned with “RL” buckles.

In classic Ralph Lauren style, the collection incorporated Western accents such as long fringes on coats and jackets. The occasional presence of cowboy hats added a touch of playfulness and capped off the show with a remarkable look—a backless gown dress shimmering in glamorous gold.

A Glorious Inclusion: Glenn Close in a Custom Lauren Pantsuit

Among the star-studded attendees, Glenn Close radiated elegance in a white Lauren pantsuit. The esteemed actor expressed her admiration for the ensemble, stating, “This is a very, very special suit. It was made especially for me. Custom. Five years ago, I won a SAG Award in it. So here I am. It looks just as beautiful. It’s a shame to wear something like this only once.”

Reflecting on her New England upbringing, Close shared her mindset: “The mentality was, you buy something that has great quality, and then you wear it until it wears out. That’s how I was brought up.”

Polo Bar Celebration and Lauren’s Timeless Style Philosophy

Following the show, guests gathered at Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bar restaurant, where the renowned designer was once again greeted with cheers as he made his entrance. In the midst of the celebration, attendees indulged in one of the restaurant’s signature burgers.

David Lauren, Ralph Lauren’s son and executive at the label, discussed the challenges of creating new designs each season: “Everything changes. You’re always looking at new fabrics, new silhouettes, and new ways to bring the brand to life. But there is a philosophy. There is a style.”

While the label has been deeply involved in dressing stars for the Met Gala in previous years, David Lauren announced that the focus this year will be on other endeavors. The label is preparing to outfit Team USA for the upcoming Olympics in Paris and present a men’s collection in Milan. “So our plate is full,” said David Lauren.
