[ロンドン 25日 ロイター] – On the 25th, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with 17 mothers of Russian soldiers sent to Ukraine and affirmed that the government leadership understands the pain of the mother whose son was killed in action.

Putin met his mother at the presidential residence in Novo-Ogaryovo on the outskirts of Moscow ahead of Mother’s Day in Russia. According to pre-recorded footage, Putin sat next to the mothers around a table laden with tea and sweets, understanding the worries and anxieties of the soldiers’ mothers and the pain of the mothers whose children were killed in action. . “I want you to know that government leaders, myself included, share the pain,” he said.

The video shows the mothers listening to Putin’s remarks, but it is unclear what they said to Putin.

Putin also urged mothers to be wary of online information about Russian military affairs, saying there are “all kinds of fakes, deceptions and lies. You can’t trust anything.”

Russian Defense Minister Shoigu announced on Sept. 21 that 5,937 Russian soldiers had died in action, but no further announcements were made. Shoigu’s figures are well below most international estimates, with the United States saying on November 9 that Russian and Ukrainian military casualties were over 100,000 each. Ukraine has not released any casualty figures.
