Russian President Vladimir Putin has put the Bulgarian coach of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Ivaylo Petev in a very delicate situation.
More than a week ago, news came that Russia and the Balkan country had organized a friendly in St. Petersburg on November 19.
A number of players from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as fans from the country revolted and said they did not want the match to take place.
Today, however, Putin waved his finger at a meeting in the Kremlin and told the member of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina – the leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik, that it was good to play the game.

“Sport should unite and not divide people, so I hope sporting events, including this match, take place. They play a role in the development of sport and interpersonal relationships,” Putin said.
The conduct of the match is expected to be discussed at the Executive Committee of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Association in October and, until a decision is made, Ivaylo Petev will not know who his team will play with.
We remind you that only a few months ago (in May), Russia threatened Bosnia and Herzegovina because of the country’s aspirations to join NATO. Then the Kremlin announced the aspirations of the Balkan country as an “anti-Russian move” and warned that they should “take measures in the name of their national security.
