“The number of protesters is not huge, but it’s still impressive – considering what Russia is doing to the demonstrators. I mean, given the very harsh punishments that Russia applies to the demonstrators, the fact that thousands of people are still ready to go out – for me it is still an important indicator,” Queen said.
In her opinion, there is a layer of the elite in the country, young people who are tech-savvy, thinking, who can bypass media restrictions and filter information from propagandists.
It is young people and activists who can launch this kind of movement.
“And even if it hasn’t reached Maidan proportions yet, the fact that thousands are still coming out shows that there is an awareness in Russia of what the government is doing, as well as a group, a significant group of Russians, who are unhappy with what is happening now. ” she added.
Christina Quinn expressed her hope that those thousands could turn into millions.
“I hope so (increase in protests – ed.), because I sincerely believe that all Russians should be deeply outraged by what their government is doing on their behalf,” she added.
