Tesla boss Elon Musk had also announced at the time that it would simply open the plant again in violation of the regulations. In the meantime, the Alameda County Health Department has allowed Tesla to prepare to start up the plant this week and to get more employees to work. So far it is unclear how many of the approximately 10,000 employees return to the factory. A few days ago, Tesla was also visited by the local police, who checked compliance with precautionary measures such as the use of masks.
Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg’s financial service, Tesla announced in an email to the employees that the general attendance requirement should apply again from Friday. Employees who do not want to go to work out of fear of the risk of infection can therefore take unpaid leave until the end of May. Employees who were sent by the doctor to Quaratne or who had symptoms of Covid 19 were exempt from attendance, it said.
California allows for a cautious opening of operations. In Alameda County, a district near San Francisco in which the Tesla plant in Fremont is located, however, going-out restrictions to prevent the spread of the corona virus were extended until the end of the month.
Tesla stock rose 1.48 percent on Thursday to a close of $ 827.60 on the NASDAQ.
