‘Primary schools buy their own corona tests to test teachers faster’ | NOW

More than fifty primary schools have purchased commercial corona tests themselves, because they do not want to wait for the GGDs, reports Faithful Thursday.

The tests cost 100 euros each, but according to the school administrators are therefore cheaper than putting a replacement in front of the class.

“It is a simple calculation,” says Geurt Morren van Ante, an umbrella organization of ten primary schools. “A day’s replacement costs me about 300 euros and this test 100 euros. If the test is negative, the teacher can go back to work immediately the next day. That is much less drastic for the children and the parents are also overjoyed. . “

A teacher who wants to be tested at the GGD via the normal route, sometimes has to wait 48 hours before it is his or her turn. They also have to wait for the results afterwards. In a commercial test, teachers can be tested quickly and get the results in the evening. If the result is negative, the class does not have to be sent home.

The PO Council, the sector organization for primary education, understands the school administrators, but tells the newspaper that the education money is not intended for that. The PO Council would rather see people with vital professions given priority at the Municipal Health Services.
