PRESS WHEEL – Leonel responds to Peralta: PLD will have fewer mayors and councilors than it has today

Santo Domingo, RD.

Former President Leonel Fernández said that the People’s Force, the party he directs, will consolidate after the municipal elections of February 16, as an institutional democratic power, thanks to the number of mayors and councilors who will be benefited in that contest.

The ex-president spoke in these terms when being questioned about the statements of the member of the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), José Ramón Peralta, who assured that his political organization is leading the electoral preference in 260 demarcations, of 393, of which there are 158 municipalities and 235 municipal districts.

“I can predict to you from now, that the ruling party will have fewer mayors and less aldermen on February 17 than it has today; and that the reformist party will have more councilors and more mayors and of course the People’s Force that does not have a councilor or a single mayor will have several, ”Fernandez said in a press conference in conjunction with the Christian Social Reform Party, in which announced that they will continue with a series of visits to the different municipalities and municipal districts in support of the candidates allied to the People’s Force ..

Similarly, he said he is waiting for the Central Electoral Board to present the report prepared by the Spanish company Alhambra Eidos on the Automated Vote system.

He questioned that the hiring of the company “was only to present a page and a half statement” without a detailed report that indicates the methodology used, as well as the findings.

“The language used by the company using adjectives seems strange to us, it is enough to say we found nothing, but no, it is a vigorous system, a robust, dynamic system, they are qualifying adjectives that are not given at the conclusion of an investigation,” said Fernández .
