Senior economist Faisal Basri call the eldest son Jokowi, Gibran Rakabuming Raka should have left his position as a commissioner in the company after becoming the mayor of Solo.
According to him, this attitude needs to be done in order to prevent conflicts of interest. According to him, Gibran’s position as mayor and commissioner will make it difficult to avoid potential conflicts of interest in carrying out his position.

For information, the issue of Gibran’s dual positions as mayor and commissioner of the company was previously revealed from the release of a video on Refly Harun’s YouTube channel entitled “AEK: Multiple Positions in the Company, Gibran Should Be Disabled” on November 15, 2021.
In the video, Gibran is accused of serving as the President Commissioner as well as the holder of 19 percent of PT Wadah Masa Depan shares. Not only that, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo is also mentioned as a commissioner and holder of 52 percent of PT Ready Always Mas’ shares.
Gibran did not deny that position. He still holds the position of the main commissioner in a private company. Gibran admitted that he had no time to manage the company because of his busy schedule as Mayor of Solo.
According to him, since registering as a candidate for Mayor of Solo in 2020, he has handed over all company affairs to his younger brother, Kaesang Pangarep. He even admitted that he had never signed company documents again since he resigned from the company.

Not only Gibran, other officials also have to do the same, such as several deputy ministers (wamen), special staff (stafsus) ministers, to MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo who has a position in the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
According to him, the move is not good because Kadin is a corporation.
“For example, Kadin’s top management is filled with executive and legislative officials. The executive, legislative and judiciary are the state, while Kadin is a market or corporate or business institution. Even though the goal is good, it is symbolically not good,” said Faisal.
He said the government official was not an angel. According to him, it is impossible for a government official to maintain integrity if he also has a position in a corporation.
