Preparation of PID and BIAN, Payakumbuh Government Holds Meeting

Payakumbuh – In preparation for the implementation of World Immunization Week (PID) on 18 April and the National Child Immunization Month (BIAN) which starts in May tomorrow. Payakumbuh Government held a meeting in the Ngalau Indah Hall Payakumbuh City Hall, Wednesday (13/04).

The activity was also attended by the Payakumbuh Police Chief, Head of the Communications and Informatics Service Junaidi, Head of the Education Office, Plt. Head of the Health Service, Head of Sub-district, Head of Village and Head of Public Health Center in Payakumbuh.

Payakumbuh Mayor represented Assistant III Amriul Dt. Kirayiang asked all parties to be involved in the success and promotion of PID and BIAN in Payakumbuh.

“Immunization is important, because there are several diseases that can be prevented only by immunizing,” he told the media.

Therefore, Amriul said that cross-program and cross-sector roles were needed to provide a correct understanding to all parties that immunization was very important to provide protection against Immunization-Preventable Diseases (PD3I).

“And this immunization can also prevent extraordinary events (KLB) in the future. This is in order to create a healthy, strong and intelligent generation of people,” he said.

Meanwhile Plt. Head of the Health Service Yuniri Yunirman said that for Payakumbuh City in 2021, there were still 622 (21.3 percent) under-fives whose immunization status was not complete. Meanwhile, the coverage for measles and rubella (MR) immunization for infants in 2021 is 2,265 (77.4 percent).

“For 2022 until last February, there were only 209 (7.5 percent) babies who had just been immunized with MR. Meanwhile, the target for February should be 15.8 percent,” he said.

“Thus, through PID and BIAN activities, this is the right moment to pursue complete immunization for our toddlers who have not been immunized. And the target to give birth to a healthy generation can be achieved,” he said.

“We also expect relevant stakeholders such as the Education Office, village heads to provide information to parents because most of those who will be immunized are children aged 9 months – 15 years,” he concluded.
