Premiere: live concert of the folk dance concert performance LĪGO SAULE – Entertainment

The NRA in cooperation with LMT Smart Television invites you today, June 23, from 11.00 to watch the premiere of a special dance event: the summer solstice mystery LIGO SUN, which was danced in Valata castle mound.

LĪGO SAULE was created by choreographer Jānis Purviņš and Folk Dance Ensemble LĪGO together with like-minded people – the common folk traditions of Julgī Stalti, Katrīna Dimanta, Ēriks Zepa and Laima Dimantas. The solstice performance LĪGO SAULE was danced in Valāta castle mound in Kazdanga parish during this summer solstice, on June 20. The folk dance ensemble LĪGO, the middle generation dance groups LĪGO and SEN LĪGO took part in it.

The course of the event consists of three parts. The dance concert performance “LĪGO treji vārti” includes 14 spectators’ favorite dances close to the hearts of dancers and one choreographic miniature about Kurzeme, the time of summer maturity and the shortest night of the year in the choreography of Jānis Purviņš, Guna Trukšāne and Anda Lagzdiņš published by TDA “Līgo” a total of 100 dancers.

This is followed by sunbathing and a fire ritual led by Julgi Stalte and Ēriks Zepa, with the participation of three generations of dancers at TDA LĪGO. The great mystery of flowering on earth culminates in the eternal mystery of the power of fertility and the life of the sun, which is inconceivable without fires – the elements of the purifying fire that brings blessings and fertility. The ritual of fire on the shortest night of the year to increase energy, endurance and strength has always been part of the magic of the solstice. This fire ritual is intended to light a fire by accompanying the sun and singing songs.

But the mysteries end with the premiere of the choreographic performance “LĪGO Jānis” created in collaboration with Jānis Purviņš and the group “ImantaDimanta un draugi” – 10 dances, originally created as summer solstice songs, with the participation of Katrīna Dimanta, Laima Dimanta and three generations of TDA “Līgo” dancers.

Kthe concert performance was filmed in compliance with the restrictions set by the state and the necessary precautions.

The LĪGO SAULE concert performance can also be viewed on LMT Smart TV, in the LMT Straume app and on the Internet.
