Dancers and musician of Jēkabpils region Inga Karpiča have created a beautiful video clip “Dear Mara bakes bread”

When the dance groups “Deldze”, “Solis” and “Landi” of Jēkabpils region and ethno-music artist Inga Karpiča merged, a video clip “Dear Mara Bread Baked” was made.

In the video, the strong words of the folk song meet the music of Inga Karpiča, the long-educated idea and love of folk dance and bread-making tradition of choreographer Daiga Ģeidāne, and the dance steps of the dancers of Jēkabpils region.

For generations, Latvians have been prosperous from what land and work provide. The main dish in all seasons has been home-baked bread. Even today, bread is as important and sacred to a Latvian as it was several hundred years ago.

Daiga Ģeidāne, the author of the idea, script and choreography of the video, says the following about the idea: “From my childhood to the present day, the unique smell of home-baked bread, which filled the whole house, has been vividly remembered.

This idea of showing the way of bread from grain to loaf has long been in me. And this summer, hearing Inga Karpiča’s folk song “Dear Mara’s Bread Bread”, the whole way of making bread came together as pieces of a puzzle, creating a story, a picture I had dreamed of. “

“I was very inspired by the feeling of heart, enthusiasm, devotion that Daiga has and passes on to other members of the group. The seriousness of the initiative and love of work that elevates a simple idea so high that the usual tension in the filming area is not noticeable.

Through these people, I experienced the real enjoyment of work, creating every moment as a special being together in my own circle. A real inspiration to experience the great potential brought by simplicity, naturalness and authenticity, ”Inga Karpiča shares her feelings.

The filming of the video took place in Jēkabpils region in cooperation with local farms “Celmenieki”, “Stabiņi”, “Vārpiņas”, association “Akācija Plus”, craft center “Rūme” and camping “Kalnāres”. The video premiered on September 19 at the craft center “Rūme” in Jēkabpils region as part of the event “Poetry Collections for Winter”.

The video uses footage shot by members of dance groups Kaspars Selis and Jānis Prodišķis, montage – Kaspars Sēlis.

So far, many songs have been sung and many dances have been danced on the theme of making bread, but this collaboration is special and has given great satisfaction to everyone involved in making the video. Together with today’s knowledge and opportunities, using the talents, skills and other internal resources of the collective members, a story has been created that touches, educates and reflects various traditions and values of the Latvian people.

Inga Karpiča has been actively involved in music since 2013. Her debut album “Song of the Soul” was released in 2014, but the album “Golden Stairs” was released last year. Inga has collaborated on various folk and ethno music projects, including KathmanduFusionBand and producer Ainars Majors. Organized a series of events “Singing through a folk song”.
