Praguers will find out the real positions of trams. Data on the web and in the application are updated every 30 seconds – ČT24 – Česká televize

“Finally, Praguers will be able to find out comfortably whether the tram they are waiting for has already run or will arrive. Information on the positions of vehicles and the signal in the metro are among the basics of modern public transport, “said the mayor’s deputy and chairman of the supervisory board of DPP, Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě).

Information on current connection departures is automatically updated every 30 seconds on the DPP and PID websites after entering the required stop. According to the director of the Regional Organizer of Prague Integrated Transport (ROPID), Petr Tomčík, data on tram connections are open. “Thanks to the involvement in the PID open data system, this information can be used for their applications by anyone who is interested,” he said.

For the time being, those interested can find online locations for Prague’s public transport (MHD) trams on the mapa.pid.cz website. According to DPP, the links will gradually appear in the map data on other websites and in search engines in the following days. Those interested will find out when the nearest tram connection actually leaves the required stop, what is its current delay or which stop the tram passed last.

Data on the actual departures of DPP buses from stops have been available since the beginning of 2020. During the modernization of public transport, DPP also provides coverage of metro stations with a high-speed LTE mobile signal.

The consortium of mobile operators started covering the metro with the LTE signal in agreement with DPP in 2018. All three operators, ie O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone, and with them CETIN, participate in the coverage. Now, according to Scheinherr, there is a signal in 36 of the 61 Prague underground stations. The signal should be in all metro stations by the beginning of 2022, he added.

The Transport Company of the Capital is the largest carrier providing public transport in the Czech Republic. It carried 1.17 billion passengers last year. The company employs over 11,000 people and the sole shareholder is the city of Prague.
