PRI deputy denounces ‘Alito’ Moreno for political gender violence

Mexico City. The federal representative of the PRI, Monserrat Arcos, filed a complaint this Thursday against the national leader of the tricolor, Alejandro Moreno, for crimes of political violence based on gender, due to acts that would also imply the diversion of at least 16 million pesos later that the party leader demanded that she accept a scheme of corruption, simulation or “moches”, which the legislator did not accept.

The refusal to participate in this scheme has led to threats from Moreno Cárdenas and has led her to “pause her political career,” added the federal representative. “I regret that in the PRI, today the leader sees the party as his shield of impunity because he has not been able to demonstrate anything other than corruption, and that he basically uses the party’s resources as petty cash for his personal pretensions or for his excesses.” “They are known all over the world,” the legislator said in an interview after making the complaint.

In the appeal that Arcos Velasquez presented to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Attention of Electoral Crimes (Fisel), he states that when he was head of the National Organization of PRI Women (ONMPRI), Alito Moreno requested that the resources received by the party at the national level , and which are labeled for political promotion actions for women, will be used to contract virtual courses and training with a company that charged 32 million pesos. However, said company would return at least half to Moreno Cárdenas.

“There are 16 million pesos that was the destination for the president of the party, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas. Basically they only told me that they had a financial need and that he (Alejandro Moreno) required the resource. He personally requested it from me.”

He stressed that electoral legislation establishes that threatening or intimidating a woman with the aim of inducing or preventing her from participating in political actions is political gender violence. She explained that after being removed as head of the ONMPRI in December 2023 – a decision that she found out about through social networks – she was excluded from the electoral processes and CEN activities.

At the same time, she stressed that the way in which she was removed from that position was something “humiliating and shameful,” since the locks of her offices were broken without allowing her to have a delivery-reception, while her personal belongings “were placed in the bench of insurgents in a violent manner.”

Despite this, he indicated that he was motivated to file the complaint because “for me it is not a matter of revenge, (but) it is a matter of justice, it is an issue where we cannot be in the situation of having for the first time the possibility of a woman being president of this country, and of women like yours truly having their careers destroyed, in my case 20 years, for the sole reason of not wanting to belong to a corruption scheme.”

“Part of what motivates me is precisely every spill that I have spilled in this process, that no other woman experiences it, that they think a little, twice, before destroying the honorability of a woman who has dedicated herself to politics and who “It has served his party,” he added.
