“One of the first tasks is to ensure the greatest possible presence of foreign states during the Crimean Platform. We started this initiative in 2016,” Poroshenko said.
According to him, back in 2014, “Resolution 100” of the UN General Assembly was voted, “when 100 countries of the world, despite insane opposition from Russia, resolutely condemned the illegal annexation of Crimea, the Russian aggression against Ukraine.”
“And then we annually held relevant events and the adoption of appropriate decisions, including the General Assembly and the UN Security Council in New York,” Poroshenko stressed.

According to him, before the founding of the Crimean Platform on international platforms, work on Crimea was carried out within the framework of individual international organizations, parliamentary assemblies, judicial bodies and dealt with certain problematic issues, but there was no single coordination platform for discussing the de-occupation and reintegration of the peninsula.

He added that Zelensky also approved the Deoccupation and Reintegration Strategy temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and submitted to parliament as an urgent bill “On the indigenous peoples of Ukraine”.
The Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the effectiveness of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, increase pressure on Russia, prevent human rights violations and protect victims of the occupation regime. The main goal of the platform is the de-occupation of Crimea. It is assumed that the platform will operate at several levels: heads of state and government, foreign ministers, in the dimension of inter-parliamentary cooperation, in the format of an expert network.
Officially, the Crimean Platform will begin its activities at the summit in Kiev on August 23, 2021. It is planned to accept the document called the Crimean Charter, which will condemn Russia’s policy towards the occupied Crimea.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Crimean platform called “unfriendly step towards Russia” and “an encroachment on the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.” According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba, due to the initiative in the Russian Federation “emotions grow, sometimes even hysterical”.
The Crimean platform as a new platform for negotiations on the return of the occupied Crimea to Ukraine has already been supported more than 10 countries of the world.
Zelensky’s invitations to attend the Crimean Platform summit were accepted President of Poland Andrzej Duda, President of Latvia Egils Levits, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, head of the Council of Europe Charles Michel and High Representative of the European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. At a high level at the summit of the Crimean platform also will be represented by the USA.
Russia occupied Crimea after a forceful blockade of Ukrainian military units and illegal referendum on March 16, 2014… The accession of the peninsula to the Russian Federation is not recognized by Ukraine and most countries of the world.
