Police say that landings of Rohingya refugees in Aceh are increasingly frequent

Reported detikSumatra, Rohingya refugees landed in Pidie on Monday (26/12) at 5.30pm. The police have recorded how many Rohingya refugees.

“We are currently still collecting data on the number and condition of refugees from Myanmar,” Aceh Regional Police public relations chief Kombes Winardy told reporters on Monday (12/26/2022).

The Rohingya refugees stranded in the Pidie River were men, women and children. Some of the refugees were in frail condition and chose to sleep on the beach when they arrived.

Winardy believes that Rohingya refugees are increasingly arriving in Aceh. Previously, 57 Rohingya refugees were stranded on the beach in the Indra Patra Fort complex in Aceh Besar.

“Intersectoral coordination is needed to solve the Rohingya problem, bearing in mind that their landings are becoming more frequent,” he explained.
