Police save dog locked in car in the sun during heat alert

Spanish police rescued a dog locked in a car in the sun and identified the owner for animal abuse.

The case took place in Seville on Wednesday and the images went viral on social media.

Authorities were alerted by a popular, who called the Seville Local Police hotline, to report that a dog was locked in a car parked in the sun for several hours.

Seville was under yellow heat warning that day and, at the time of the rescue, around 2 pm, the thermometers marked 40 degrees, which, according to the police, means that inside the vehicle the temperature would be 10 to 15 degrees higher.

The agents broke the glass, which was slightly open, and rescued the little Yorkshire Terrier, who was transported to the veterinary hospital after being assisted there.

The owner, a 49-year-old woman, was identified for mistreating animals.
