Before the start of the season, Michał Probierz’s players were counting on joining the fight for a place that would guarantee a start in European cups, and maybe even for the Polish championship. For a long time the game of Pasów could be enjoyed, but in mid-February she caught a strong “shortness of breath” losing six games in a row. In the end, however, they managed to shake up and maintain their place in the championship group. The pursuit came to Krakow after a goalless draw with Lech Poznań, but for four games he cannot reach for the set of “stitches”. The hosts of the Monday match did not intend to change this, hoping to stay three points near Wawel.
The meeting began extremely calmly, not to say sleepily. However, fans were awakened after less than a quarter of an hour by Kamil Drygas, who hit hard from outside the penalty area and the ball landed on the crossbar. It was a strong warning for Cracovia, who jumped up to the game and took the lead in the 22nd minute. It must be admitted, however, that most of the “merits” of the Porters’ defender, Benedikt Zech, who crossed Florian Loshai’s cross and anticipated the catching goalkeeper, put the ball into the net.
Leaders winged the hosts, who strongly pressed Pogoń. First, Mateusz Wdowiak did not take advantage of the turmoil in the penalty area, then David Jablonsky shot next to the post, and after a few minutes Dante Stipica made a great intervention.
Portowcy woke up a bit after changing sides. In the 53rd minute Sebastian Kowalczyk cleverly hit from an acute angle, but only hit the post. After almost an hour of play, he tried to win a penalty kick, but the referee decided Cornel Rapa did not foul the youth from Szczecin. The hosts could not hold on to the ball any longer, meanwhile it was really dangerous under their goal. Adam Frączczak folded beautifully for “scissors” shot, but he hit above the crossbar.
Quite unexpectedly, the second goal was scored by Cracovia. On the left, Mateusz Wdowiak precisely crossed the head, struck Pelle van Amersfoort, and although goalkeeper Pogoni caught the ball, after analysis of VAR it turned out that he did it behind the line and the referee had no doubt to indicate the center of the pitch.
The goal was unfortunate enough to have a very demotivating effect on the hosts. Cracovia was looking for a third hit, however, Probierz players lacked accuracy. Meanwhile, in the extra time of the game Ricardo Nunes used the exact pass of the substitute Paweł Cibicki and from a sharp angle defeated Lukas Hrosso.
The porters tightened their seatbelts, and strong uncertainty broke into the ranks of the hosts. Kowalczyk conducted a beautiful action, gave him to the center of the field to Frączczak, but he hit above the bar
