No one can ever predict someone’s fate. One day wallowing in wealth the next day could have been broke to impoverished. Moreover, those who have a career in the world of entertainment with intense competition, and are unable to manage their money properly are the reasons many artists fall into poverty.
This also happened to the Thai star of the 90s, namely Arthit Taongsawatrat or who is familiarly called Ryu Arthit. After 15 years of leaving the entertainment world, now his fate has made the public feel sorry for him. He reportedly fell into poverty and became homeless.
Not only that, he now sells his and other people’s belongings on the side of the road to make ends meet. His family cut ties with him, and he never met his children again.
In the last interview with local media, Ryu broke down in tears saying that he regretted many things. He also said that he would continue to fight to stay alive and become a better person.
Ryu admitted that he had spent all of his wealth that had been collected since he was a teenager. Now he can only sleep under the roof anywhere and take a shower in a public toilet.
Ryu Athit was famous in the Thai entertainment world in the 1990s. At that time he debuted at the age of 14 years. His role in the film 303 Fear Faith Revenge in 1998 managed to make his name become one of the most famous actors in Thailand.
He became a youth idol at that time and was loved by women because of his handsome face. Unfortunately, Ryu has problems with mental health and is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He is also often reported as an artist who is quite ‘crazy’ because of his actions.
His last appearance was in the romantic comedy drama Theptida Long Ngan in 2005. After that, he decided to retire from the entertainment world. The next 10 years were spent in and out of hospitals because of his mental illness.
He also changed religions and embraced Buddhism. Ryu has been married twice but both ended in divorce. Ryu also had two children from his first marriage and a daughter from another marriage.
Their relationship was disrupted especially after Ryu went bankrupt, so that his three children now have no more communication with Ryu.
