Petkov to NOVA: We will not change our candidate for prime minister, I trust Asen Vassilev – Politics – Bulgaria – In focus with Lora Krumova

“With our mandate, weeks ago we announced Asen Vasilev as a candidate for prime minister. We don’t believe we have to have a new one every week. If we have to propose someone, I personally trust Asen Vassilev”. This was stated by the resigned Prime Minister Kiril Petkov in an exclusive interview for the show “On Focus” with Laura Krumova.

“How did it happen for Asen Vassilev? I saw that for a moment there was a danger that a government would not be formed because of me personally. Because of what happened to the seven Russian diplomats. And in fact, when the BSP said “we can’t do it with Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, I said to myself that Bulgaria is more important to me, my cause is more important, I will step aside, but Bulgaria must have a chance to have a government for the winter . It was not because of Slavi Trifonov or Toshko Yordanov. It was due to the fact that I did not want to feel like an obstacle to the formation of a government”. This is how Kiril Petkov motivated the election of the PP to propose Asen Vassilev as the new Prime Minister.

Ninova: Asen Vassilev is being discussed for prime minister with our mandate

He also commented on the subject of the leaked recording of a closed meeting of the parliamentary group of “Democratic Bulgaria”. It was as a result of it that the leader of “There is such a people” Slavi Trifonov announced that his party was withdrawing from the negotiations for a new cabinet. “I didn’t see anything scary and dramatic in this recording. This was another “Macedonia”. “Some people are playing a puppet show – they invent some kind of thesis to justify themselves, but in reality you have to draw a conclusion about what is happening with their money,” said Petkov.

He was adamant that for him “there is no option” for ITN to be a partner of “Continuing the Change” in management again. The resigned Prime Minister emphasized that at the very beginning of the new government negotiations, it seemed doubtful to him that “from today to tomorrow there is dialog again and someone has woken up after catharsis”.

Political scientist: Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev can govern in a coalition with GERB

According to Petkov, the fact that “last week we blocked an order for a billion and a half for the road Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo and put a requirement for Rashkov to investigate the corruption” caused ITN to “pull the handbrake”.

“I am sorry to see some decent people, because of some loyalty to a leader who does not care about them, continue to act in such a way that the country enters a series of political risks. There are at least eight more people,” commented the Prime Minister resigned.

On the topic of possible early elections, Petkov expressed his belief that his party will be the first political force. “A partnership will most likely happen after an election, not before it. I believe that we, DB and BSP will reach the cherished 121 votes. This time, four deputies did not reach us,” Petkov analyzed the political situation.

Balabanov: There is no option for ITN to return to the negotiating table

He shared that he was convinced that ITN would not support the candidacy of Boyko Rashkov for the chairmanship of KPCONPI. And he categorically stated that the PPs have not given up on this proposal of theirs and are not afraid of being investigated. “If Rashkov was elected, I would personally have a conversation with him that everyone is equal before the law,” said Petkov.

“When we have a prosecutor’s office that is not working – if it was working, half of the politicians would have been indicted a long time ago. That’s why we are putting in place a law that enables the investigation of a party-independent person who will have proven himself in an institutional framework,” the prime minister said in resignation.

The head of “Overgas Inc” AD: We have a contract for 15 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas

Petkov commented on the expulsion of Russian diplomats from our country. According to him, diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Russia have never been interrupted, and at the moment there were 43 employees of the Russian embassy in our country. “It’s just that some people, whom the services saw as harming Bulgarian interests, were invited to leave,” he stressed.

Asked if, after his visit to Azerbaijan, he managed to negotiate more gas for our country, Petkov answered: “President Aliyev said that between half and one billion cubic meters can be supplied to us additionally on an annual basis. We still have to think and clear the way for them to come to Bulgaria”.
