A 23-year-old man from Utrecht has died in the American mountain region of the Appalachians. According to American media, the man was eating breakfast on the edge of the mountain area when he fell down.
Local media reported that he fell 50 feet. Three off-road vehicles and thirty rescuers were looking for him. The Dutchman was found alive but in critical condition and taken to hospital by helicopter. There he died of his injuries.
The man studied in Utrecht and was a member of student association Veritas, reports RTV Utrecht† The association writes on its website that he was very active within the association and was known as a social, funny and cheerful boy. Veritas will remain closed until Friday 3 June due to his death. A day later, the man would have turned 24.
