Peter Schouten is no longer a lawyer for crown witness Nabil B.

Peter Schouten and Onno de Jong are no longer the lawyer of key witness Nabil B. B. said this on Tuesday during a new session in the extensive Marengo liquidation process. A reason for this has not yet been given, as it turned out on Tuesday morning in the court bunker in Amsterdam-Osdorp.

Nabil B. said there that he heard from his lawyers a week ago ‘that they are no longer assisting him’. Nabil B. told the judge on Tuesday morning that he only wants to give an explanation behind closed doors, in connection with safety. The court must decide on that.

Lawyer Onno de Jong, who assisted the key witness together with Peter Schouten, says by telephone that he cannot say anything about the situation in connection with his professional secrecy.

July 2020
Breda lawyer Peter Schouten has defended the key witness since July 2020, together with Onno de Jong. Schouten offered in 2019, immediately after the liquidation of lawyer Derk Wiersum, to replace him as counsel for the crown witness. At the time, this was widely praised as a very courageous decision. In the end, he was not immediately appointed.

In June of this year it became clear that Peter R. de Vries and Peter Schouten had been asked by Nabil B. to assist him in the process. Even though the OM then lay down for that.

Schouten has been under strict security ever since. His friend Peter R. de Vries chose not to be heavily secured. He was shot dead in Amsterdam in July 2021. Earlier in this case, the brother of the key witness was shot dead.

Marengoproces
Nabil B. is a key witness in the so-called Marengo trial. This revolves around a series of violent liquidations of the so-called mocro-mafia in Utrecht and the surrounding area. That crime organization is said to be led by Ridouan Taghi and Said Razzouki, who were both arrested.

Crown witness Nabil B. was also part of the crime organization but felt remorse. He got out and talked to the police and made dozens of incriminating statements, including against Taghi. B. is now in a witness protection program. He and his family are in great danger.
