The eighth day of the Apertura Tournament of the League 1 would begin this Sunday in the midst of the mandatory social immobilization decreed by the Government before the advance of the coronavirus, revealed Óscar Chiri, secretary general of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF).
After the date 7 of the contest is completed, scheduled between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, everything is planned for games to be played during the confinement of citizenship.
“We have already submitted the request to the Ministry of the Interior to play date 8 this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday”, said the manager in an interview with the program ‘Football neighborhood’, announcing the intentions of the Professional Soccer League.
Days before, the president of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) announced that it was planned to keep the League 1 on Sundays after coordination with the National Police.
Dispute duels in full immobilization, taking into account the disturbances that caused the last suspension of the championship, would be welcomed by the authorities.
The competition of the highest category of national football was interrupted indefinitely by the disorders carried out by University fans on the return of the Apertura Tournament, after five months of paralysis due to the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.
The League 1 obtained permission to resume its development after a meeting between Walter Martos, president of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo San Martín and Agustín Lozano, head of the FPF.
