Peruvian President Dina Pollarte apologized in a speech to the nation yesterday for the dozens of deaths in protests across Peru in recent weeks. However, she confirmed that she would not resign from her post. Weeks of protests have killed at least forty-two people since early last month, after former President Pedro Castillo was overthrown and detained.
