Famed blogger Perez Hilton regrets blackmailing Ariana Grande on his gossip website and social media nearly a decade ago. He writes that in his book TMI: My Life in Scandal. “It was pathetic behavior.”
Hilton first met Grande in 2011. She was eighteen at the time and looking for a manager to kickstart her career. A well-known figure in the entertainment industry, Hilton saw her potential and wanted to work with her. But in the end, Grande got involved with someone else.
“I was really hurt, so years after that I was super petty towards Ariana on my website and on social media,” the blogger writes in his new memoir. “I regret that.”
It’s not the only thing Hilton (real name: Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) looks back on with regret. “I regret many things. Especially since I now see that I never had to be so mean or harsh. One of the many things I regret is that I hurt so many people by giving them nasty nicknames and most of all that I wasn’t nice to celebrity kids. “
He now also finds it problematic to publicly disclose his or her (alleged or otherwise) sexual preference without someone’s consent. “I’m sorry I thought it was okay to outclass celebrities,” he said BBC News. “I don’t believe that anymore.”
