People who lost a family member to covid-19 in 2020 could receive help of up to 7 thousand dollars | Univision 45 Houston KXLN

HOUSTON, Texas. – The Emergency Management Agency ( FEMA) will offer help of up to $ 7,000 to people who lost a family member during the crisis coronavirus. This was announced by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortéz, co-author of the new legislation that will provide $ 2 billion in reimbursement for families of the victims.

Univision 45 contacted FEMA representatives seeking details on this new program and they indicated that they are already working to establish the implementation plan, simplifying the process for applying and obtaining assistance. It will only be to cover the losses that occurred in 2020.

The agency issued the following statement:

“We are aware of the economic and emotional instability that the covid-19 in our nation and we are committed to providing funeral assistance to people in USA as soon as possible”.

While announcing the date to begin receiving applications for this program with reimbursements of up to $ 7,000 in Texas, FEMA already has a program designed to financially assist families who have suffered a loss.

FEMA representatives point out that the easiest and fastest way to get help is by calling 1-800-621-FEMA.

The Memorial Assistance Ministries organization has a bereavement program covid-19 which supports qualifying families with up to $ 3,500.

“It may be that that person has died since March 1 of last year, as long as it was due to covid-19, we are supporting families who live in the four different counties, Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery and Waller, “said Sonja Gee, president of Memorial Assistance Ministries.
