Penultimate stage l Pascual de Cabo l Gallery director l Points of sale

The Photographic route through Mallorca, an event organized by the photographer Martina Romero, and which this year is dedicated to Aspanob, will arrive tomorrow, in its penultimate stage, at the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel. The exhibition will be joined by three new photographers, two civilians, Toni Martínez and Jaime Gaviño, and a military man, Víctor Fuentes. On this occasion, given that the Arabella has the Cycling Gold Certificate, on the Route poster the figure of a cyclist stands out, which is none other than the Paulino Andújar brigade, who in addition to practicing this sport, has yielded his image to do it.

Martina tells us that in addition to the exhibition, the public that attends to see it will find the tribute that the Route pays to those who fight against cancer in general. And he does it through a photograph of the local police Alba Mayol, who overcame this disease, on whose naked body and face, the painter Sandra Renzi made a beautiful body painting, turning them into that of a zebra. The photographic work, the work of Javier Padilla, as well as the body painting, were made in one of the rooms of Ciutadà Il·legal, by Toni de la Mata, just like the making of of photography, in which Martina Romero intervened. Both the photo of Alba Mayol, turned into a zebra, and the making of, composed of another 50 photographs, all of the same size, 70×50, will also be exhibited in the aforementioned hotel, along with those of the cyclist on the poster, and their corresponding making of (7 photos, 70×50).

Thanks

The exhibition, which will be attended by the president of Aspanob, Jaume Coll, will begin at 7.30 pm. According to COVID measures, it will be mandatory to wear a mask and you will not be able to consume alcohol or anything solid. Finally, Martina Romero told us that she wanted to thank the General Command of the Balearic Islands, and more specifically Colonel of Artillery, Jesús de Quiroga Conrado, head of the Communication office, for all the help and support they are giving to Photos with History en route through Mallorca. He is also grateful for the collaboration to Decathlon for the preparation of the poster, since they loaned the bicycle and equipped the cyclist.

Exhibits in Tangier

Pascual de Cabo, Gold Medal of the city of Palma, who spends long periods in Morocco, sends us the catalog of the exhibition that under the name of Morocco-Spain. Culture, always and always, was inaugurated on the 10th of the currents, in Tangier, in which five Spanish painters participate, Manuel Castillero, Francisco Escalera, José Luis Muñoz, Cristóbal León and him, who there is great consideration and respect. The exhibition, in case someone from here is around these days, takes place in the Medina Art Gallery, which thus opens its doors to Spanish painters while Morocco –as the program says– «welcomes you with its arms open ». The exhibition will remain open until next January 10.

Bernardo Paz, in the last summer, in Palma.

Bernardo Paz

Our colleague Bernardo Paz, a photojournalist with a long history, who every summer – and he has been around forty now – monitors the Royal Family in Marivent, as well as characters who drop by the Island, on vacation, or who come to his house, he has recently been appointed director of the Nikon Gallery, which you will find at Calle Reina Mercedes, 7, in Madrid, which opened its doors yesterday. «They are two things, boutique and gallery. I’m going to take care of the latter, ”he told us yesterday. Every month I will organize an exhibition with well-known photographers and photojournalists. We have started with two: Domingo J.Casas, a photographer specialized in music and concerts, with 40 years of music; and Bernardo Pérez, with The black holes of the planet. Naturally – Bernardo points out – that does not mean that I will not continue going to Mallorca every summer, despite the fact that they no longer give the game they used to. I mean the characters we encountered. But I’ll keep going. And the fact is that there are many memories and stories that unite me to your island! ».

Guillem Darder with his calendar.

Where to buy them

Some readers have asked me where you can buy the calendar that the painter Guillem Darder has made for the benefit of the fight against cancer. Well, there are the places where you will find them: Bar Indianapolis, on Calle Aragón 47; and El Altillo, in Marqués de Fuensanta, 29. Acquiring them is showing solidarity, as is creating –in this case a simple calendar–, selling it and offering its profits to a cause, as Guillem Darder has done.
