Pedri was introduced as a new Barcelona player from Las Palmas.
Pedri hopes Lionel Messi stays on Barcelona so that he can “learn from the best,” even though the 17-year-old has not ruled out a loan for the 2020/21 season.
Azulgrana confirmed a deal with Las Palmas to sign Pedri in September 2019, but he remains at Spain’s second-tier club for the remainder of the season.
Pedri was finally introduced as a Barcelona player on Thursday, with president Josep Maria Bartomeu and new sporting director Ramon Planes – who replaces Eric Abidal – attending the event.
Pedri, who idolizes Andres Iniesta, admits that he is enthusiastic about working with Messi, as long as the original star Argentina it remains at Camp Nou amid speculation of its future.
“It’s not every day you can join this club,” said Pedri.
“I really can’t wait to do great things, but the pressure is the worst a footballer can have. You have to get rid of it as soon as possible and replace it with joy.”

Pedri has plans for life at Barca but is also set to make a temporary move, a loan spell that could potentially offer the opportunity to play regularly and help with long-term development.
“The first option is to stay here and be happy with the best, even though the transfer is not an option that I ignore,” said Pedri again.

Barcelona have parted ways with Quique Setien after the team was eliminated in the Champions League at hand Bayern Munich. Ronald Koeman was appointed as coach for the upcoming season.
