PDIP Only Opens Opportunities for Coalition with 5 Parties, Observer Says

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Secretary General’s statement PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, that it is normal for them to open a coalition with five parties. The Executive Director of Trias Politica Indonesia, Agung Baskoro, stated that the relationship between PDIP and PKS, NasDem and Democrats was indeed not harmonious.

Agung assessed that Hasto’s statement that opened up opportunities for the parties that are members of the United Indonesia Coalition or KIB (Golkar, PPP and PAN) and the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition or KIR (Gerindra and PKB) could be predicted beforehand. The reason is that the five parties have good relations with the bull party.

“Both KIB and KIR have the opportunity to work with PDIP because the relations that have been established are quite good so far, one of which is because they are included in President Jokowi’s cabinet,” Agung said in a written statement received by Tempo, Thursday, June 23, 2022.

The situation, according to him, is inversely proportional to the axis of the Democratic NasDem and PKS. He assessed that the relationship between PDIP and NasDem had deteriorated after Surya Paloh gave rise to the name of Ganjar Pranowo, who is a PDIP cadre, as one of three potential presidential candidates they will carry in the 2024 presidential election.

Meanwhile, with the Democrats, Agung assessed that there were still unfinished business between the PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and the Chair of the High Assembly Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY.

“Regarding the PKS, it’s an ideology that doesn’t intersect,” he said.

At the Nasdem National Working Meeting, last weekend, Surya Paloh did announce the name of Pranowo reward as one of three presidential candidates that they are ready to stretch. The other two names are DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa.

In addition, Surya Paloh also briefly talked about the arrogant party. Although she did not mention PDIP by name, Megawati responded in her opening speech at the PDIP National Working Meeting last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, SBY had clashes with Megawati in the 2004 presidential election. SBY initially served as Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security in Megawati’s cabinet. The relationship between the two cracked after SBY resigned from the cabinet and founded the Party Democrat. He then ran for the 2004 presidential election with Jusuf Kalla to challenge Megawati Soekarno Putri – Hasyim Muzadi. PDIP also became an opposition party during the leadership of President SBY.

Previously, Hasto stated that he opened the opportunity for PDIP to form a coalition with five political parties in the 2024 presidential election NasDem, he stated they have their own strategy. As for the Democrats and PKS, Hasto seemed to have closed the door tightly.
