General Manager of the Islamic Students Association (PB HMI) the chairman of the Acting General Manager of JASN Romadhon emphasized that his party refused to hold the 212 Action Reunion on 2 December.
He asked the police and the Bogor Regency Government not to give permission for crowds to hold the 212 Action Reunion.
“We hope that this refusal will not only come from DKI Jakarta, but also from the Bogor Regency Government and the Police not to give permission for crowds,” said Romadhon in his official statement, Tuesday (30/11).
The chairman of the 212 Action Reunion Committee, Eka Jaya, said that his party plans to hold the 212 Action Reunion at the Az-Zikra Mosque, Sentul, Bogor, West Java on Thursday (2/12) the day after tomorrow. However, the plan has changed again, and the action will be centered in two locations, namely the horse statue, Jakarta and Azzikra.
Romadhon supports the steps taken by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the police to reject the implementation of the 212 reunion in Jakarta. The public must be made aware that it is proper to avoid crowds in the midst of the corona virus pandemic.
According to him, gathering activities in large numbers is very dangerous because of the potential for Indonesia to experience a spike in the corona virus again.
“In fact, we recommend that Reunion 212 be done online. Apart from not needing to ask permission from the police, we think online reunions are much more effective and efficient,” he said.
Romadhon then advised all parties to exercise restraint. He emphasized that human life is more important than caring about any important agenda. What’s more, the thousands of people who have died due to corona should be a valuable lesson for all of us.
“The government and civil society must not be overconfident because it looks like this pandemic is sloping down, getting excited about vaccination achievements and not being careful about limiting crowds will end up being fatal,” he said.
On the other hand, Romadhon suspects that the agenda for the 212 Reunion actually has a hidden political agenda so that a number of committee members insist on holding actions, even in a pandemic. Apart from wanting a reunion, he suspected that the committee seemed to want to show the power of the masses to the public. Especially for the government and parties who want to replace the position of President Jokowi in 2024.
“Whatever the motive for organizing it, it is better for all of us to refrain from gathering in large numbers. Because “prevention is better than cure,” he said.
