Paris taxi rates will increase in February 2020

As every year, the taxi fares have been updated via a decree published in the Official Journal. On February 1, 2020, the minimum price for the race will increase by 20 cents, reaching 7.30 euros. This increase is accompanied by an increase in coverage (from 4.10 to 4.18 euros) and in mileage allowance (from 1.10 to 1.12 euros). The only good surprise: the supplement for reservations remains fixed (4 euros for an immediate reservation, 7 euros if the reservation is made in advance).

The increase in fares is also necessary for journeys between Paris airports and Paris. You will have to pay 3 euros more to get to Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport from the right bank (i.e. 53 euros) as from the left bank (i.e. 58 euros). To get to or from Orly airport, it will take an additional 2 euros, which will bring the price to 32 euros for the left bank and 37 euros for the right bank.

Concerning the airports of Nice and Toulouse-Blagnac, for which packages also exist, the prices remain the same as those published in the Official Journal in December 2018. In Nice, you have to pay 32 euros for a journey between the airport and the center city, 80 euros to go to Cannes and 90 euros to go to Monaco. In Toulouse, the prices vary between 15 and 45 euros depending on the departure area.

The flat-rate increase in Paris comes within the framework of a regulation of tariffs going back to 2015: the Competition Authority had then praised the merits of flat-rate tariffs for consumers, in particular tourists, faced with the price uncertainty caused especially by traffic jams. These regulations have been applied since March 1, 2016.

With the traffic jams caused by the strike, taxis can no longer take as many customers as normal, which penalizes their activity. Some even allow themselves not to respect the package for journeys to and from airports, so as not to work at a loss, noted France Blue. Not sure, therefore, that an increase of two to three euros encourages the few recalcitrant to return to the right path.
