PEOPLE – A painful past. As part of a Facebook documentary made with her boyfriend, Paris Jackson, daughter of pop king Michael Jackson, recounted the complicated period she lived after the death of her father in 2009.
The 22-year-old model explained in detail how his self-esteem led him to make multiple suicide attempts. While living in a difficult adolescence, the daughter of the American star self-injured.
“I was the only girl between four boys for the first 10 or 11 years of my life. Since I was the only girl, my father loved to disguise me. I looked like a porcelain doll and I hated it, ”she said.
At the time, Paris was living with her grandmother, Katherine Jackson. One day, his cousin visits him. Noting the model’s addiction to food, he called her “fat”. “Food became an addiction, and when a cousin called me fat, it was the drop of water that made the vase overflow. And I fell into self-harm, ”she said.
The star was constantly looking for a way to release dopamine, a chemical that serves as a neurotransmitter in the brain. “Things like food, sex, drugs, music and training, there are a lot of things that cause dopamine release,” she said.
His attempts to release dopamine could have cost him his life … because Jackson tried to kill himself several times.
“There are a lot of things that cause dopamine to be released. Self-harm and tattoos are examples. So I was able to divert emotional pain by transforming it into physical pain. It was a form of control that I needed a lot, ”she revealed.
The star also confesses to having tried to cut and burn himself, but, each time, she managed to control the razor.
