Paola Cortellesi and Celebrities Speak Out Against Violence Against Women: Calls for Political Action

Paola Cortellesi takes to the field to ask politicians for more incisive action against violence against women. The actress and director, who is the protagonist of a record performance at the box office in recent weeks with her debut film “There’s Still Tomorrow” (which is approaching 20 million euros in total takings this weekend), focused precisely on a story of gender violence and female emancipation at the same time, she reposted on her Instagram stories the appeal made yesterday by Massimo Gramellini to Giorgia Meloni and Elly Schlein in the program “In altre parole” on La7 in which the journalist said: «Argue about what you want. But on violence against women, no! Approve those reforms immediately and approve them together.”

But it’s not just Cortellesi who is taking a stand. From Chiara Ferragni to Laura Pausini, from Gianluigi Nuzzi to Simona Ventura, Barbara D’Urso and Fiorella Mannoia, many celebrities who, on social media, alongside ordinary people – teachers, students, workers – rally around Elena, the sister of Giulia Cecchettin, the missing girlwhose body was found yesterday in the Barcis Lake areasharing with harsh, affectionate and painful words the post written with his brother Davide («We love you»).

“A strong and heartfelt hug to you and your father”, writes Laura Pausini. Gianluigi Nuzzi comments: «We are always here to talk about these tragedies, to formulate new laws, to be parents and then you hear “that good boy”, evil exists. Come on Elena, a hug to your dad and grandma.” Simona Ventura symbolically apologizes to all the victims like Giulia: “Sorry if we weren’t able to protect you, sorry if it happens every time and every time we cry, but then we can’t save the many lives like you.”

Alba Parietti asks for forgiveness in a long reflection published on Istagram: «Giulia forgive, you and all the women killed at the hands of a man incapable of accepting the end of a story, incapable of being men, we mothers, fathers, school and society , state, institutions, incapable of writing right laws to protect you, to educate. From today, everyone must deal with their own conscience and bring something to this hopeless humanity.”

Chiara Ferragni also comments telegraphically. Â «Every time a woman disappears, we all unfortunately imagine how she ended up. For once we hoped to be wrong.” Barbara d’Urso does not hesitate for a moment to write: «We hoped until the end that Giulia would return, that she had left voluntarily. Today is another sad day for each and every one of us. A hug to the family”.
