Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is back on the big screen, Mother. His latest film Killers of the Flower Moon officially released on October 18, 2023.
In this film, DiCaprio competes with Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro. These two actors have previously worked together in films This Boy’s Life and Marvin’s Room.
Not long ago, director Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese, reveals DiCaprio and De Niro’s relationship while filming the film. DiCaprio’s actions during the filming process apparently made De Niro shake his head and even get annoyed.
Reported Huffpost, DiCaprio and De Niro are said to have different approaches to acting and are even considered incompatible. Scorsese told The Wall Street Journal that DiCaprio’s method acting is a bit boring.
According to the 80-year-old director, DiCaprio often discusses various things and improvises in his scenes with De Niro. This made Scorsese and De Niro ‘annoyed’.
“Oh, it’s endless (improvisation)!” Scorsese said.
“Then Bob (De Niro) didn’t want to talk. Once in a while, Bob and I looked at each other and blinked. And we told him, ‘You don’t need that dialogue’,” he continued.
Previously, Scorsese had also told journalists about DiCaprio’s acting method being different from De Niro’s, Bunda. If DiCaprio likes to talk constantly, then De Niro is the opposite.
“I found that I could work with (DiCaprio) if I talked to him a lot. His method for me was a method of constant conversation, constant exploration. With De Niro, it’s a little different. Yes, there’s talking, but then there’s calm, ” he said.
According to Scorsese, this difference in approach can ultimately produce quality results. Both actors can display brilliant acting.
“Both of them played very beautifully,” stressed Scorsese, quoted from Entertainment Weekly.
Film Killers of the Flower Moon not the first time Scorsese has worked with DiCaprio and De Niro. Together with DiCaprio, Scorsese has released several films, such as Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Shutter Island, and The Wolf Of Wall Street.
Meanwhile, Scorsese has worked with De Niro on several famous films, such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas.
Killers of the Flower Moon is one of Scorsese’s anticipated films. So what is the story of this film that is predicted to take home the Oscar next year?
