Padre de Famalicão announces he is cured and calls Covid-19 the “earthquake”

The covid-19 pandemic will be marked in everyone’s memory, but there are those who have directly suffered a period of shock with the infection. One such case is Monsignor Manuel Joaquim Fernandes, parish priest of Ribeirão, in Famalicão.

After being infected in a religious formation in Gaia, where also a priest from Viana do Castelo was infected, ended up losing his mother, who died a victim of the new coronavirus.

This Sunday, the parish priest announced through social media that he is cured of the disease, which he says has caused “an earthquake” in his life.

“About me and mine, an authentic earthquake“, Writes the Monsignor, announcing that he is cured“ after 9 days of Hospital and 2 negative tests ”.

“In this period, God took my mother to the same place where I was. I could not attend your funeral, I am an only child. Not even at the 7th day mass. It was all very hard ”, he confesses.

“God, however, knows more and his plans are infinitely perfect, although in this case, they did not coincide with mine”, he laments.

The Monsignor thanks those “who prayed” for him and my mother “while she lived on this earth”. It also leaves the desire to “return to the middle” of the Ribeirão congregation to the parish residence.

The parish priest also warns that “there was a lot of incorrect news” about the infection. He admits to contracting covid-19 during “a few days of priestly formation in Porto”.

“And I also know that, thank God, I only infected people who cared for my mother. I would have preferred, a thousand times, not to have infected anyone, but that surpasses us ”, he explains.

“Thanks to God I did not infect any employee of the parish or the Social Parish Center”, he adds.
