Netflix has unveiled for this end of January, a new series titled: October Faction. Directly inspired by the comics of Steve Niles and Damien Worm.
The story immerses us in the life of a couple of monster hunters working for a secret organization. Fred and Deloris Allen are back in their hometown with their children Viv and Geoff, for the funeral of Fred’s father: Stephen. The couple’s children (twins) are completely unaware of their parents’s activities and the existence of the monsters.
The first episodes of the series start off pretty well. Unfortunately the series quickly turns into a teenage series and loses the horror side. The twins’ heart and friendship stories seem more important than monsters.
Another point, we do not understand how the couple’s children are so blind to their parents’ activities. As strange as it is, Vic and Geoff’s behavior does not worry their friends at all … The teenagers are very quickly bamboozled. They allow themselves to be taken in by their emotions, which makes their characters too gullible!
We would have liked to have a darker atmosphere, with a lot more action. The series is sorely lacking in monsters. Despite all the rhythm of the episodes is good.
The Allen couple played by J.C Mackenzie and Tamara Taylor play well. October Faction has 10 episodes of around 35-40 minutes, so the series is easy to watch.
