Much is currently being reported about plans for a four-day week. Is that also relevant for VW? Works council chairman Bern Osterloh made a clear statement about this in an internal medium: “Definitely no. At VW the situation is such that we don’t need a four-day week. The utilization of production in the second half of the year ensures employment. In addition, in the Future Pact and in the Digital Transformation Roadmap, we have already described how we want to adapt the workforce: namely through partial retirement up to the 1967 year. I believe that this is the right answer to the challenges in the automotive industry.
