West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) set the location of the war with TNI-Polri in the Ilaga area, Puncak Regency, Papua. Wiliyah was chosen because it was far from the reach of civil society.
“Appealing to the demonic colonial Indonesian military for the battlefield area to be determined for the sake of safeguarding the safety of the civilians in Puncak Regency, Ilaga,” said TPNPB-OPM spokesman Sebby Sambom in a written statement, Thursday (27/5).
Sebby said that TNI-Polri troops entered the war area that his party had designated. According to him, the Indonesian military is still carrying out operations in residential areas.
He also appealed to the TNI-Polri to immediately go to the war site in Muara, Ilaga and not to interfere with civil society activities in the Gome area.
“We urge to immediately go to the war location that TPNPB-OPM has determined, and not to interfere with the activities of the Papuan civilians in Ilaga, Gome District because TPNPB OPM has placed a battlefield in Muara,” he said.

These troops are specifically assigned to and join the task force (Satgas) for the Security of Prone Areas in Papua.
