One study contradicts previous research that there is a link between blood type and COVID-19 sensitivity.

The researches follow one another and do not always give identical results. If studies conducted last year in China, Italy and Spain showed the existence of a link between blood group A and the possibility of developing a more severe form of COVID-19, new research in Utah, USA, dismantles this theory.

Analyzes performed on almost 108,000 patients in a health network show that there is no link between a specific blood group and the risk of suffering more acutely from COVID-19.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been postulated associations between blood type and susceptibility to disease. But according to this extensive study, there seems to be no association between blood type and sensitivity or severity and other explanations are likely to be present, “said Amesh Adalja, a senior researcher at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.

In contrast, the study confirms that men and the elderly are more prone to severe forms of COVID-19.
