One of the largest airlines in Europe will begin selling tickets for bitcoins

Stig Kjos-Mathisen, CEO of the Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) cryptocurrency exchange, said the platform has created a payment infrastructure that will allow Norwegian Air Shuttle customers to purchase tickets for digital assets. It is reported by CoinDesk.

A new option may be presented in the coming spring, but will be available only to residents of Norway.

“Almost everything is ready on our part,” – assured Kyos-Matisen.

It is noteworthy that he is the son-in-law of Björn Kyos, founder and CEO of Norwegian Air, who participated in the launch of NBX in 2018. The plan initially provided for the use of the exchange to support the purchase of airline tickets for cryptocurrency.

Founded in 1993, Norwegian Air is the largest low-cost airline in Scandinavia and the third largest in Europe.

It is not yet known which digital assets the airline will support. Presumably, the son of its founder, Lars Ola Kyos, bought bitcoins in the amount of NOK 3.5 million in 2017 ($ 380,000 at the current exchange rate) in 2017, but before the cryptocurrency reached a historic high in December.

Recall that in 2018, the Taiwanese airline Far Eastern Air announced its readiness to accept cryptocurrency as payment for tickets.
