His father, Scott Schollenberger Jr, 42, and girlfriend Kimberly Maurer, 35, they were arrested on murder charges. The 12-year-old was found in a very small room that had effectively become his prison, was malnourished and so weak that he could not even stand. One of the 12-year-old’s three brothers didn’t even know of his existence as he was constantly a recluse and a stranger to family life.
All the other children of the couple were cared for normally and attended school. It is not clear to investigators, as the Mirror, why there was such discrimination with the 12-year-old. In the house, when the policemen entered, there was plenty of food, but the boy would have died of hunger. However, the cause of death was a severe head injury.
