Fear a Paris where a man stole a van and hit two people: the budget is one dead and one wounded. It happened in the La Défense area, the business district on the outskirts of the French capital: according to what BFM-TV reveals, the individual was stopped by the police.
It is not clear whether this is a terrorist attack or the act of a deranged person: according to the French media, there are no elements for now to think of an act of terrorism. The man, a 46-year-old homeless man known to the police, was stopped by agents: driving the van, writes Europe1, he purposely hit the two pedestrians. The police stopped him as he was about to take his own life.
Terrorism hypothesis excluded
According to the first elements of the investigation, the man would be deranged, homeless. After stealing a municipal services van, the individual threw himself at the two passers-by on the Parvis de la Défense, the large square surrounded by skyscrapers home to large French and multinational groups. The author of the facts, BFM-TV points out, tried to escape but was quickly stopped by the police. He is currently in custody in the nearby offices of the judicial police in charge of the investigation. Nothing indicates at the moment that it could be a terrorist attack, but rather the gesture of a deranged person.
