OM is investigating threatening tweet from ex-Ajacier Bryan Roy towards Rutte Inland

Former professional footballer Bryan Roy was heard by the police at the beginning of last month, because he allegedly threatened Prime Minister Rutte via social media. A reliable source confirms a message to that effect of AT5.

When asked, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) in The Hague does not want to say that it is about Roy. The Public Prosecution Service does state that a 51-year-old man has been interviewed and that an investigation is now underway against him. It will be decided at a later stage whether to prosecute. Roy himself does not want to respond substantively.

The 51-year-old former professional football player posted a text on April 3, early in the morning, with a tweet from someone else about Mark Rutte. ,,We help Mark with his memory of what to do. Rutte resignation, resignationmarkrutte.petitions.nl.” Roy responded with the text: “Headshot will get it soon.” As a result of this tweet, Roy has been reported.

Roy has been discredited more often in the past year because of his expressions on social media, among other things. He regularly spreads tweets with ideas partly inspired by conspiracy theories. In a interview with this newspaper he shared his ideas last year.

,,As a football player and later also as a youth coach, I have always been in a politically correct mindset. I was ‘the label Bryan Roy’, couldn’t say what I actually thought or thought, lived in a fake reality. I was a slave to the system. I have now reached a point in my life where I no longer want to be a slave to that system. I express myself however I want, do what I think is right and don’t worry about what others think of me.”
