Official cause of death of Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor revealed

Almost a year after the death of Irish singer Sinéad O’Connorthe Southwark Coroner’s Court, borough of London, revealed the official causes of the death of the renowned interpreter.

According to a statement shared this week by forensic authorities, the singer died on July 26, 2023 due to “natural causes”, thus denying the rumors of an apparent suicide or a possible overdose that spread on social networks.

The singer, whose single ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ catapulted her to stardom in 1990, was found dead in a residence in the south of the British capital, where she had moved that month from Ireland.

Shortly before his death, O’Connor shared the news of his move to London on social media, also revealing that he had finished production on a new musical album, which had been scheduled to be released in 2024.

Although the Metropolitan Police (MET) did not find the singer’s death suspicious, they indicated that the Coroner’s Court would carry out an autopsy to clarify the circumstances of her death.

Rumors of a possible suicide began to circulate shortly after her death, when users on social networks pointed out that her last publications of the singer were related to the pain she felt after her son took his own life a year earlier.

However, six months later, the results revealed by Southwark Coroner’s Court have put this idea to rest.

After her death, O’Connor’s family organized a funeral procession in which they invited the public to line up in front of the sea as a tribute to the Irish performer. This was followed by a private service in which her relatives said their final goodbyes to her.

Meanwhile, thousands of fans gathered on the streets of Bray, the Irish city O’Connor called home, to leave handwritten notes and flowers around his former home.

The notes had messages addressed to the singer in which fans thanked her for the years she spent writing her songs. In this regard, O’Connor’s family was grateful to her followers for having organized such a significant event.
