Odd scene at Bielefeld against Bochum – field player has to score

Curious scene in 2nd division

VfL experiences a bitter evening with the front runner – with an excitement. Hannover 96 shows a weak performance in Regensburg – and St. Pauli also fails.

Arminia Bielefeld – VfL Bochum

League leader Arminia Bielefeld started the second half of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga with an arduous work win. In the first game after the winter break, East Westphalia won 2-0 (1-0) against VfL Bochum and initially extended their lead over the pursuers Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart to six points. However, the two promotion favorites can still follow in the course of the 19th matchday.

Bochum, which still has only 20 points in their account and is therefore in danger of relegation, ended the game ten – due to a curious scene: VfL goalkeeper Manuel Riemann protested loudly against a decision by referee Robert Kempter, then got yellow. But Riemann did not let himself be reassured and then applauded maliciously. The referee then showed the keeper yellow-red (84th), for the rest of the game midfielder Vitaly Janelt had to go into the goal.

At this point, Bielefeld was already in front: Andreas Voglsammer (27) had given the hosts the lead in a torn game, the striker reacted fastest after a rebound and shot the ball out of the rotation to score his tenth goal of the season. It was the only significant chance in a weak first half. Fabian Klos (90. + 3) followed shortly before the end.

Jahn Regensburg – Hanover 96

For Hannover 96, the new football year started with another disappointment. The Bundesliga relegated team lost 0: 1 (0: 1) to the surprise team Jahn Regensburg and has to deal more and more with the relegation battle scenario in the 2nd division.

Max Besuschkow (45th + 6 / penalty) scored the only goal in front of 8,418 spectators in occasional snowfall, which made Regensburg climb to fifth place before the Wednesday games. Hanover is only one point ahead of the relegation place.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden – Ore Mountains Aue

Second division soccer team SV Wehen Wiesbaden got off to a successful start in the relegation class mission in the first game of the new year and Erzgebirge Aue suffered a setback in the battle for promotion places. The Hessians prevailed 1-0 (1-0) and left the direct relegation zone at least for one night. Aue missed the jump to second place.

Paterson Chato (14th) scored the decisive goal for the Wiesbaden team, where Sebastian Mrowca (68th) was knocked off the pitch due to repeated fouls with yellow-red. Trainer Rüdiger Rehm made a novelty. The Wiesbaden coach saw his fourth yellow card from referee Patrick Ittrich (Hamburg) and is the first coach in German professional football to be suspended for the next game.

Greuther Fürth – FC St. Pauli

After a false start to the new year, FC St. Pauli has to fear again for relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga. At the start of the second phase of the season, Hamburg lost 0-3 (0-1) at SpVgg Greuther Fürth and with 21 points are only one point ahead of the relegation place.

Branimir Hrgota (43.), Jamie Leweling (86.) and Daniel Keita-Ruel (90. + 2) scored the goals for the Franks in front of 9220 spectators, who with 28 points in seventh place are only three points behind third place. The Swede scored with a long-range shot from 30 meters. It was the 27-year-old’s ninth goal of the season.
