JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The name of the Minister of Defense for the period 2014-2019, Ryamizard Ryacudu is included as a party that has the opportunity to be examined as a witness related to the alleged satellite procurement case at the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) in 2015.
The former Army Chief of Staff opened his voice regarding the case handled by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
Ryamizard explained that the Ministry of Defense at that time decided to rent a satellite because there was an element of emergency.
This is to fill the orbital slot of 123 degrees East Longitude in 2015.
According to him, if Indonesia does not immediately show its commitment to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the slot can be given to another party.

In addition to an emergency, President Joko Widodo at that time issued a discretion or order to him to save the orbital slot.
“Firstly, because there is discretion and secondly there is a threat to sovereignty if it is not done,” said Ryamizard, quoted by Antara Kompas.id on Tuesday (18/1/2022).
Ryamizard emphasized that as a soldier he must be able to carry out President Jokowi’s orders to save the orbital slot of 123 east longitude.
“I did and succeeded. If I don’t do that, the orbit could be taken by other parties and endanger the sovereignty of the country,” he said.
