NYC is off the list of the 10 most expensive places to live in the nation – Telemundo New York (47)

The economic decline, the health crisis and crime would be part of the factors that left the Big Apple off the list of the 10 most expensive places to live in the United States for the first time in years.

No New York City ZIP code made the top 10 in the annual study PropertyShark on the country’s 100 most expensive zip codes to live in, a sign that the city’s housing market felt the effects of the COVID-19 crisis to a sharper degree in contrast to other cities, according to the researchers.

Tribeca’s 10007 zip code dropped from fifth to eleventh place. 10,013 from the same neighborhood came in 13th, five less than last year.

TriBeCa, which generally has one of the highest housing costs in the country, saw an exodus of residents during the peak of the crisis. The biggest price drop was 38% in Garment District zip code 10018, which went from 26th to 84th.

While New York has 20 of the 100 most expensive ZIP codes in the country, the only other ZIP code in the city to make it into the top 20 was 11231 for Brooklyn, which covers part of Carroll Gardens.
